These hands-on activities will help kids develop a strong number sense as they learn to: ​

Subitize

Using ten frames, kids will be able to subitize, or instantly recognize, numbers in ordered groups from 1-10. This helps lay a strong foundation for addition.

Compose

Kids will learn to compose, or "put together," numbers within ten frames from 1-20, laying a solid basis for understanding place value and fact families.

Decompose

Kids will also learn to decompose, or "break apart," numbers from 1-20 in any combination within ten frames, laying a solid basis for subtraction and more complex addition strategies.
