Do you have young kids who could use a fun activity for practicing addition and subtraction facts?

This picture puzzle set is a unique, interactive way to practice Math through hands-on manipulatives (ten frames) and a cut-and-paste activity.

For each puzzle, students will first solve the problems and write the equations, then find the pictures with the correct answer for each space to construct the puzzle.

This helps reduce the risk of kids merely piecing the puzzle together without solving the problems first, but also makes this a self-correcting activity since the puzzle only fits together correctly when every answer is right.

The 3 levels range from simple to complex to help students practice adding and subtracting through 20.

This set includes the following:

  • 9-piece puzzle for addition through 10
  • 12-piece puzzle for subtraction through 20
  • 20-piece puzzle for addition through 20

For best results:

  • Print in color on cardstock paper and laminate the page. Then cut out the pieces along the grid lines.
  • Provide kids with their own ten frames and counting items so they can work out the problems in a hands-on way.

These hands-on ten frame sets are great for visual and tactile learners!

Optional: If you’d like to make this a reusable resource, apply Velcro dots to the back of each puzzle piece and on the ten frame page.
